Resilient Pasco Project Workshop Series

Join us at one of our upcoming workshops to engage in crucial discussions about the results of our countywide vulnerability assessment and to provide your invaluable feedback. You can attend one of these sessions:

Adapting to Extreme Natural Hazards

Pasco County is working on identifying vulnerabilities within our critical assets to extreme weather and other natural hazards across our entire community. The Resilient Pasco Project will look at potential impacts from flooding, extreme weather, storm surge, sea level rise and heat. The work of this project will also include developing a countywide Resilience and Sustainability Action Plan.

Why Resilience?

Resilience, as defined by Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC), is “The capacity of a community, business or natural environment to prevent, withstand, respond to and recover from a disruption.” Basically, it means how are we preparing for and how will we recover from a catastrophic event.

The Resilient Pasco Project intends to find ways to strengthen our community to be able to protect Pasco County’s environment, communities and economic prosperity.

What is Pasco County Doing Now?

Pasco County received Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Funds (CDBG-MIT) administered by the Florida Department of Commerce. This project is estimated to be completed by 2025 and spans across many branches of Pasco County government. The County is also collaborating closely with local municipalities and the private sector to include critical assets identified in 380.093, Florida Statutes.

Many coastal counties in Florida are completing similar projects. The County is also collaborating with TBRPC, who spearheaded the creation of the Regional Resiliency Action Plan. This plan is a living document created to address resilience challenges, prioritized through intergovernmental and community collaboration.

The Resilient Pasco Project consists of:

The completion of the countywide vulnerability assessment will keep Pasco County eligible for millions of dollars in grants from the Resilient Florida program.
